To ensure that the "Learning in Nature for Inclusion" programme had real, measurable outcomes, we used a combination of qualitative and quantitative tools throughout the project. These allowed us to track progress, identify challenges, and evaluate the overall impact.
1. Student Feedback and Observation
Surveys and Questionnaires: Refugee and local students completed pre- and post-activity surveys to assess their feelings of inclusion, well-being, and engagement.
Classroom and Outdoor Observations: Teachers kept logs of student behavior, participation, and interaction during nature-based activities.
Student Reflection Journals: Some students maintained simple reflection diaries, sharing how they felt during outdoor learning sessions.
2. Teacher Assessments
Feedback Forms after Training: Teachers completed evaluations after workshops and outdoor sessions, reflecting on what they learned and how they planned to apply it.
Lesson Implementation Reports: Educators documented how they adapted their teaching to outdoor or inclusive approaches, noting successes and difficulties.
Peer Reviews and Sharing Sessions: Staff engaged in discussions and shared experiences to analyze what worked best.
3. Refugee Student Progress Monitoring
Academic Tracking: We monitored refugee students’ academic performance over the project period to spot improvements in comprehension, language skills, and classroom participation.
Social Integration Indicators: We tracked participation in group activities, confidence in communication, and peer relationships.
Support Staff Reports: School psychologists or inclusion coordinators provided input on students’ emotional and social progress.
4. Community and Parent Involvement
Parent Feedback: Informal conversations and questionnaires were used to gather insights from refugee and local parents about their children’s experiences.
School Events and Participation: We observed an increase in family involvement during nature-related school events, indicating greater engagement with the school community.
5. Dissemination and Outreach Tracking
Attendance at Workshops/Events: We recorded the number of educators and stakeholders attending our dissemination activities.
Online Engagement: Website visits, social media interactions, and downloads of materials helped us measure outreach impact.
Follow-up Interest: Several schools expressed interest in replicating or learning from our project, showing the effectiveness of our awareness efforts.
By using a variety of evaluation tools, we were able to gather a complete picture of how this Erasmus+ project benefited students, teachers, and the wider school community.
